About The Event
Join us on March 24 at 12:00 PM CT when Jakub Czuprynski, a genealogist and tour guide from Krakow, Poland will present Genealogy Gems Hidden in the Polish Archives – Tips and Search Strategies, about strategies for family history research in the Polish archives. The presentation will cover a variety of interesting and lesser-known sources for genealogical research that are available in the resources of the Polish State Archives. Jakub will talk about documents that can be helpful in solving the most difficult genealogical puzzles and how to conduct in-depth research on the history of Jewish families who once lived in the territory of present-day Poland. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the website of the Polish State Archives and how to conduct their own searches of its online collections. In addition, he will familiarize participants with various alternative sources for genealogical research such as land records, notary records, local administration records, school, court and police records.
Jakub Czuprynski has been running his own business (JCG Genealogy & Tours) for fifteen years, and works closely with the Jewish Community Centre in Krakow where he runs “genealogical first aid” programs. He is particularly interested in attempts to use lesser-known historical sources to research the histories of Jewish families from Galicia. His website is www.guide-poland.com.
The program will take place on-line via Zoom. Questions can be emailed to MNJGS at https://www.mnjgs.org/contact. The program is free for MNJGS members, $5 for non-members. Payments can be made at https://www.mnjgs.org/support-us.
